In Table 1a in Watson’s paper, Pearson lists the number of words listed per student for a child who was attending a three-year school in English. These were a number range of these words in English, and not all the word meanings recorded by Pearson were correct for a young child. He concluded that the lack of English dictionary teaching skills have kept children from learning English well; that there is a lack of understanding present in their parents with any knowledge, and that the lack of such school-based learning has influenced the student’s writing.
