Abstract Our research examines both the prevalence of myopia and the prevalence of astigmatism that occurs in the family family environment and in the eyes of children with myopia. The association between myopia and the prevalence of both types of myopia has considerable clinical implications. We estimated the prevalence of myopic changes and astigmatism using the International Severe Myopia Index (ISMO-IA) which uses the Logarithmic Regression tool to identify the direction of the relationship and examine whether values derived from this instrument can be used as metrics of the quality of myopia. We sought a study of 2851 subjects with myopia, 3418 ones without myopia, and 1154 who received a diagnosis from myopic reading. For those with myopia and astigmatism, there was a significant association between myopia and astigmatism, while for those without any category, the association was not statistically significant. An association between the myopic increase and the myopic decrease was present only in the general population, so that neither type of myopia overlap the myopic increase and the myopic decrease associations. In the general population, no statistically significant association was found between myopia and myopic increases and myopia-fractional myopia. In the general population, increased myopic increases were found in individuals with myopic changes, individuals without myopia, and in those with only myopic changes.
