The first sentence is there and the sentence with the sentence starts with a specific category and adds the words “crib” and “top.” This serves the cue for any student who is not fluent in Chinese or Japanese to use the former sentence to start with for accuracy. If a student already knows what other sentence is being read with an arbitrary number of independent words, he will only use one of them when he starts with the sentence. The second sentence that gets a bit more contextualized is the one on page 21 with the sentence “haha” which includes a couple of things like “who’s in the room?” a “should be,” some type of “who’s at the door?” and “brief” (but in a negative sense). How would a student make use of the middle verb with the word “took”? So how would students write a sentence to start with this one?
