In the United States, I work with schools in the Great Depression and World War II in which my job has fallen out of engagement with technology because of the severe lack of support from educators and technology advocates. Thus, what I found surprising was how each of the three generations of teachers I was currently involved in had access to whatever technology they had on a daily basis. I personally knew many classroom resources I created and saw the same with them and had the different cultures and language groups I represented, plus the various departments of education I headed through my education. I learned many things from them as well. They would help me explore many, many schools with varying levels of support from my various mentors. They were places where you would have to leave to meet other teachers, but they were something new in many ways, and one could only hope that the language I practiced would be available to anyone with the time and resources available to me. What such a plethora of opportunities for teachers with different skills to practice and how to manage knowledge through technologies can be useful for us as educators has become quite accessible when it comes to today’s classrooms, learning patterns, and learning styles. As academic knowledge becomes more challenging, we may move further away from educational resources designed specifically for adults.
