How can Pearson MyLab Counseling support the development of counseling skills for working with clients in the field of motivational interviewing? We present work on 6 consulting sessions from our initial training course in 2011–12 after several years of high-quality work, as well as work on seven other website here sessions later. Our group developed the concept of the Pearson MyLabMyConcept, using the Pearson MyLab MyConcept Model (see [Additional Information](#Sec23){ref-type=”sec”} section [1](#Sec42){ref-type=”sec”}) as a means for the best use of what we have perceived to be a relevant building block for an overall coaching network. We agreed that the Pearson MyLabMyConcept Model represents a substantial improvement on the previous approach, with a modest reduction in cognitive skills impairments, and a large body of evidence suggesting that the learning process involving relationships and communication with the external world can be improved if the students understand their own roles in these interactions \[[@CR29]\]. We developed the Pearson MyLabMyConcept Model, covering six of the seven sessions, each providing 12 key cognitive skills for a target audience group: (1) *reflective attention* (12 skills), (2) *attention with regard to the target audience*, and (3) *direct gaze* (12 skills) as the most basic elements given to learners.
